Hvad gør snus og nikotinposer ved dine tænder og tandkød?
Selvom snus ikke afgiver røg, er det stadig kræftfremkaldende som cigaretter og e-cigaretter. Snusen frigiver nikotin til blodbanen gennem mundens slimhinder, hvilket udover at påvirke hjerne og centralnervesystem også kan give slimhindeforandringer i munden, misfarvning af tænderne, brunt spyt samt at tandkødet trækker sig tilbage, så tandroden bliver synlig. Blottede tandhalse kan medføre isninger i både tandkødet og tænderne. Læs mere her.

Hvis du bruger snus dagligt, vil det irritere mundslimhinden. Den vil forsøge at beskytte sig ved at danne en slags hård hud bestående af hvidlige, rynkede plamager, der hvor snusen oftest lægges i munden.
Disse skader vil fortage sig, hvis du holder op med at buge snus, mens andre skader som tilbagetrukket tandkød er permanente.
Kræftens Bekæmpelse skriver ydermere, at et hyppigt brug af snus øger risikoen for at udvikle kæft i mundhulen og bugspytkirtlen. Samt at nikotinposer kan forårsage kræft i mundhule og spiserør.
Fakta
I 2022 udførte Tandlægeforeningen en undersøgelse blandt mere end 900 af landets tandlæger. Halvdelen af disse fortalte, at de i løbet af de seneste år har oplevet flere patienter med skader i mundhulen på grund af snus eller anden røgfri nikotin samt, at det i særdeleshed er blandt de unge patienter mellem 19-29 år samt den yngre aldersgruppe op til 18år.**
